Ask your questions here with as much details as you can and members will try to answer them. Also it would be good if some people could put some time in to updating this page with questions they feel people who are new would ask. When there is a collection of similar questions on a topic I will make sub-pages. Hipi links are acceptable means of answering a question if it has been asked before.
Note any pages URL that begin with "hipi-" will be listed at the bottom of this page; this is a subpage.
Please note any questions of a rude nature are not acceptable.
Q. How do I join Darling Downs Wireless?
A. The
how to join (howtojoin) guide for users who think they can handle the basics raw and the
newbies guide (newbiesguidetowireless) for those who would like to know how to get involved step by step with some help.
Q. Do you have a set of answers to my basic Linux questions?
A. Yes we do. It is located
here (faq-linuxbox) and deals with a number of questions and also applies to most "Unix-like" OSs.
Q. I asked a question here ages ago but no one has offered any help, what should I do?
A. If this happens we apologies and recommend you make a post in the forum, join the IRC channel ("
Java Chat (javachat)" on the left menu), or email one of the users on the "
Contact Us (contact)" (also on the left menu) page to get your questions answered quickly.
Q. I'm trying to set up an account in Brismesh but my location details are invalid (I'm in a black area on the map!) and I can't get them to work.
A. Your problem is that the co-ordinates are either wrong, in the wrong system of mapping or out a bit. If they are wrong you need to collect new data, if they are using a different system of mapping convert them
here (http://www.itee.uq.edu.au/~mesh/db2/grid-instructions.html)& using the GPS area, if they are out a bit I suggest tweaking the numbers if you understand them or collecting the data again.
- GPS numbers are given in degrees, and usually use about 5 decimal places. Toowoomba is about -27N and 152E.
- AMG66/UTM numbers are given in metres, for Toowoomba is about 396000 (easting) and 6950000 (northing).
