It has been a year and 2 days since the last news post... That probably gives
you some indication of what state DDW is in right now - a non-working state.
This may have occurred due to the following factors:
- Key people have moved away
- Lack of organisation / no central administration
- Existing members have lost any motivation to continue due to the above (and
below) and having other commitments
- Popularity of ADSL broadband can give better performance in some cases and
this will increase as ADSL2+ becomes available in Toowoomba & The Darling
Downs.
In some cases, ADSL is still not available, so people have chosen Satellite
(bad!) or Wireless Internet by Bluesomething in Toowoomba.
But, all is not lost - if you would like to help re-start DDWireless, recreate
the mesh, just to have fun (It does have other advantages eg: Unmetered
data, Higher upload speeds than ADSL and even higher download speeds depending
on the equipment used, and of course its a private network meaning internet
"outages" won't affect it etc. Can be used for games, VoIP, filesharing,
and lots more!), then leave a comment below and register to this website.
Once you are registered, you can edit this
HIPI page to let us know that you are interested.

Alex, it probably is easier for the average person to just hit reply to this news article than to worry about editing a hipi page.
No-one comes to this site anyway. :-) My Google ads haven't generated a cheque for over two years. Eps is meant to be taking over the group but the bastard never answers his phone. I actually live on the Gold Coast now as there aren't any IT jobs in Toowoomba.
Oh, and I was planning a complete redevelopment of the site, including WYSIWYG editors everywhere, but as my full-time job is PHP programming I'm not as motivated as I was when I wrote this originally (as a student).
